Kasisomayajula “Vish” Viswanath featured in Bloomberg Law and The Harvard Gazette

Dr. Kasisomayajula “Vish” Viswanath, Lee Kum Kee Professor of Health Communication, was recently featured in “Trump Skips Face Mask at Honeywell Mask-Making Plant” in Bloomberg Law and in “Battling the ‘pandemic of misinformation’” in The Harvard Gazette.

In Trump Skips Face Mask…, Dr. Viswanath raises concerns about President Donald Trump’s recent tour in a Honeywell plant in Arizona where he did not wear a face mask. The CDC, since April 3, has recommended Americans to wear face masks in public. “At the very least, it [Trump not wearing a face mask] confuses people,” says Dr. Viswanath. “At the very worst, it might even cause them to question if these [CDC] rules apply to them or if the message is really that critical.”

In Battling the ‘pandemic of misinformation’, Dr. Viswanath speaks about the difference between misinformation and disinformation about COVID-19 and how both are dangerously being created and spread via social media platforms.
