Dr. Jarvis T. Chen, Research Scientist in the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences, has been recently featured in The Atlantic’s “What’s Behind the COVID-19 Racial Disparity?”.
“As scientists, we have to talk about these [COVID-19 racial] disparities,” says Dr. Chen in the article. “But we can’t stop there, because we’ve seen what happens: People get demonized, and nonwhite people get pathologized. We have to be able to find the underlying factors. That’s the only way to do socially responsible science.”
