Cynthia Smith (she/her) is an early career professional who earned her M.S. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She currently works as a Mental Health Counselor in New Jersey, specializing in working with eating disorders and LGBTQ+ populations with an emphasis on gender affirming care for trans and gender expansive clients. She has experience in working with trans and gender expansive individuals as both a clinician and researcher. Cynthia is also passionate about health equity and social justice, which she integrates into her counseling practice and research projects, including a current project with Dr. Katz-Wise on the experiences of eating disorders and body image concerns among trans and gender diverse populations as influenced by their access to gender-affirming care. In addition, Cynthia works as a Research Coordinator at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and at Tufts University. In her spare time, she enjoys long bike rides, drinking copious amounts of coffee, and hiking.
