PhD student, Department of Anthropology, University of Oregon
Dee (they/them) is a Biological Anthropology PhD student at the University of Oregon who is advised by Dr. L. Zachary DuBois. Their research focuses on chronic stress, social determinants of health, and resilience among multiply marginalized groups (e.g., transgender people of color). Dee is particularly interested in using minimally invasively collected biomarkers to map how lived experiences become physically embodied. Prior to coming to UO, Dee worked as a clinical research specialist and clinical research manager at the Center for Gender Surgery at Boston Children’s Hospital under the primary mentorship of Dr. Elizabeth Boskey. They received their MS in Medical Anthropology and Cross-Cultural Practice from Boston University School of Medicine in 2018, where they studied the healthcare experiences of queer and transgender people of color in the Boston area. They also hold a BA in Anthropology and a BS in Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience from the University of Florida.
