Monica Ghabrial, PhD (she/her) is a social/health psychologist, working as a CIHR-funded Postdoctoral Fellow. Monica’s research primarily examines stress, health, and resilience among sexual and gender minority (e.g., lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer, trans) Black people, Indigenous people, and people of Color (BIPOC) – with an occasional focus on issues specifically concerning bisexuality/plurisexuality. Monica completed her PhD at the University of Toronto, where she developed and validated the first measure of positive attitude toward identity for Queer BIPOC, the Queer People of Colour Identity Affirmation Scale and used this scale to examine the relationship between identity affirmation and cardiovascular reactivity to stress within this population.
