Jessica Kant, LICSW, MPH is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and part-time Lecturer at Boston University School of Social Work where she teaches clinical practice with children and families. As a therapist, Jessica provides individual, couples, and family therapy to LGBTQ+ youth and their families, with an emphasis on transgender youth. Jessica holds a Master of Social Work from Simmons College and a Master of Public Health from Boston University School of Public Health. When not providing direct clinical care or teaching, Jessica currently works as a data analyst on the Transgender Family Election Study (TFES) at Boston Children’s Hospital under the direction of Dr. Sabra Katz-Wise. Jessica previously co-authored a paper on the effects of the social and political climate on transgender and nonbinary youth between 2016-2018, beginning with the 2016 US presidential election. Jessica’s clinical focus is on bringing the sociopolitical frame into therapeutic discussions, with an emphasis on Family Systems Theory. Outside of LGBTQ+ health, Jessica is also passionate about ending mass incarceration. She maintains the Prison Data Project, tools for collecting, aggregating, and analyzing primary source documents on health conditions in Massachusetts jails and prisons.
