Michal McDowell

Michal (she/her or they/them) is a resident in the Physician Scientist Training Program in Psychiatry at the combined Massachusetts General Hospital / McLean Hospital Adult Psychiatry Residency Program. She grew up in Dallas, TX and Indianapolis, IN and graduated from Stanford in 2011 with a major in Human Biology and a minor in Iberian and Latin American Cultures. After college, she moved to Washington, D.C. where she spent time tracking Affordable Care Act implementation on a grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and subsequently worked at the public policy office of the Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR). She then pursued an MD/MPH at Harvard Medical School/T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Michal’s research interests include mental health, LGBTQ health disparities, health services, and policy.
