Michael WilliamsPhD Candidate in Population Health, Northeastern University

Michael Williams is a PhD candidate in Northeastern University’s Population Health program, where he focuses on understanding the place-based determinants of health and health disparities, with a focus on sexual health. Through work as a graduate research assistant and through seed funding from the Boston Area Research Initiative, Michael has examined how place impacts substance use and mental health treatment in the US and how neighborhood factors impact the location of cannabis dispensaries. Michael’s dissertation work draws on his unique background in human-computer interaction, game design, and psychology to investigate how neighborhoods shape digital interventions for PrEP adherence in underserved populations.
