Longwood Campus Resources

Below you will find information about programs and resources that are available at Harvard Chan and the Longwood campus.

CAMHS Cares

CAMHS Cares Icon

The CAMHS Cares line 617-495-2042 is a 24/7 support line for Harvard students who have mental health concerns, whether they are in immediate distress or not, on-campus or elsewhere.

At all times, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, students can follow the prompts to speak directly with a CAMHS Cares Counselor about an urgent concern or if they just need to talk to someone about a difficult challenge or mental health issue. Visit CAMHS Cares for more information.

Meditation and Prayer

Meditation and Prayer IconThe Reflection Room is a multi-functional quiet space for anyone who wish to pray, meditate or reflect. It is located in Kresge LL14. Adjacent to the Reflection Room is a Wudu Room in LL08 for ritual washing.  A list of Longwood Campus mindfulness and meditation resources can also be found here.

For spiritual support, the Harvard Chaplains are available to all students.  The Harvard Chaplains, a professional community of more than 30 chaplains, represent many of the world’s religious, spiritual, and ethical traditions and share a collective commitment to serving the spiritual needs of the students, faculty, and staff of Harvard University. For a list of religious centers at Harvard, including the Longwood Medical Area, Brookline and Cambridge, visit chaplains.harvard.edu. You may also email the Harvard Chaplains at chaplains@harvard.edu or call 617-495-5529.

Light Therapy

Light Therapy IconBased on student feedback OSA purchased two Nature Bright SunTouch Plus lamps for use in the School of Public Health. Research has shown that during the winter months with a decrease in the amount of daylight, people may experience the winter blues, also known as seasonal affective disorder. One way to approach this is through the use of light therapy – either by exposure to natural light by regular outdoor exercise or the use of light boxes that emit blue and white wavelengths, similar to the sun. Please feel free to use these lamps in Kresge LL-10 and the Kresge 2nd floor lounge!

Countway Cuddles

Countway Cuddles IconCome visit with therapy dogs at Countway Library and feel your stress melt away!  Countway Cuddle sessions will be announced in Student News. For questions contact Meredith Solomon.

Common Spaces

Common Spaces IconIn 2008 Harvard University President Drew Faust assembled the Steering Committee on Common Spaces and charged the group with guiding a planning initiative that would lead to the transformation of certain physical spaces so that they support and enhance our sense of engagement and community. The Committee identified a number of physical, programmatic, and operational opportunities to transform the ways in which people experience the University, creating a more welcoming and connected campus.

Today’s Common Spaces program reflects the Committee’s recommendations which included the development of visible and inviting focal points that improve the campus and create a sense of place. Partners from across the University contribute to the programming and implementation of events and activities that invite people to feel alive, at home, and part of the larger fabric of the University. Visit commonspaces.harvard.edu/calendar to see the current calendar of Common Spaces events.
