Inclement Weather Policy

In general, the School’s teaching and research activities are expected to continue during inclement weather. An absence due to a student’s concern about weather (from a class that was held) should be discussed with the faculty member to determine whether options for making up the lost time in class are possible. In the event of a severe storm in which state officials advise against travel and/or when public transportation facilities are limited or not functioning, the Dean may elect to close the School in the interest of faculty, staff, and student safety. In this event, television stations Channel 7 and Channel 4 as well as CBSBoston.com and whdh.com will be notified to announce the closing. The School will also post a telephone hotline message at 617-432-NEWS if a decision has been made to close the school. Also, notification will be posted on the School’s homepage. A school-wide email message will communicate any decisions related to the suspension of normal operations, including delayed starts, early releases, cancellation of classes or suspension of normal operations.
