Diversity and Inclusion, Office of
The Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health Office of Diversity and Inclusion initiates and supports activities that increase diversity and promote cultural competency among all members of the School community. The Office is home to the Student Ambassador Program, FACETS (Fostering Advancement and Careers through Enrichment Training in Science) summer program, and the Faculty Ambassador Program. Student ambassadors create and promote diversity and inclusion-related activities and events, while providing an invaluable link between the Office and the student body. FACETS is a school-wide summer training program open to undergraduates and recent graduates in STEM fields who self identify as members of under-represented groups. The goal of FACETS is to provide participants with networking, research and professional development for careers in public health. The faculty ambassador program invites faculty members to partner with undergraduate institutions, conferences and other organizations that serve students from under-represented groups to promote opportunities in public health.
Additionally, the Office provides services and events for current and prospective members of the Harvard Chan School community, which include graduate application services, cross-cultural educational activities and events including speaker seminars, joint school engagement events, a Multicultural Film Series, and the Yerby Diversity Lecture in Public Health. The Office also directs pipeline programs and events to engage emerging minority scientists at every stage of their career, providing them with resources, networks and professional guidance.
Our Office is a place where students can work and socialize, talk about issues related to differences in a supportive environment, and receive counseling and referrals to academic and other assistance. Lastly, we are dedicated to creating transparency around issues related to diversity and inclusion, through dialogue, data collection and reporting aimed at understanding and meeting the needs of our community.
