Takemi Fellows examine problems of mobilizing, allocating, and managing scarce resources to improve health and of designing effective strategies for disease control, prevention, and health promotion, with a focus on low—and middle-income countries.
Our global network of Fellows provides the collaborative basis for advancing better policies through national and international institutions to support the Takemi Program’s vision for a healthier world.

Fifteen years after finishing his Takemi fellowship, Dr. Keizo Takemi became Japan’s Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare.
