An integral part of the Women and Health Initiative (W&HI) agenda is to identify and fill knowledge gaps by supporting research that will ultimately drive changes in policy and practice. The W&HI’s research priorities are:
- Creating strategies to facilitate the introduction and sustainability of evidence-based practices for the reduction of maternal morbidity and mortality through providers’ behavioral change
- Designing and validating indicators to assess the content and quality of maternal health care
- Developing and testing integrated platforms for reproductive health care and chronic diseases among women in low- and middle-income countries
- Estimating the financial and programmatic value of women’s contributions at all levels of health systems
