When Shikur Mohammed joined HaSET, Shikur was a second-year PhD student at Addis Ababa University School of Public Health and a faculty member in the Department of Public Health of Saint Paul’s Hospital Millennium Medical College. Shikur was working as an assistant professor of Epidemiology at the college. Shikur is mainly interested in maternal and child health, nutrition, and infectious vaccine-preventable diseases. As a PhD student, Shikur was working with the Birhan MCH dataset and applying advanced research methods mainly to identify and explore the determinants and predictors of preterm birth, neonatal mortality following premature birth, and newborn care practices.
