Dr. Justin A. Chen is an Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School and the Executive Director and Co-Founder of the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Center for Cross-Cultural Student Emotional Wellness. As a practicing clinical psychiatrist, Dr. Chen specializes in the treatment of mood and anxiety disorders in young adults. He serves as Medical Director of Ambulatory Psychiatry and Co-Director of Primary Care Psychiatry at MGH. He also serves as Associate Director of Medical Student Education in Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and as Training Mentor and Co-Director of the longitudinal Sociocultural Psychiatry curriculum for MGH/McLean psychiatry residents. His interests include cross-cultural psychiatry, stigma, racial/ethnic disparities in mental health service utilization, and medical education.
Dr. Chen earned his MD from Yale University. He completed his residency in adult psychiatry at MGH/McLean, where he served as Chief Resident of the MGH Outpatient Psychiatry Department. He earned his MPH in Clinical Effectiveness at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
