Dr. Laura Marciano is a Research Associate at the Harvard Chan T.H. School of Public Health Department of Social and Behavioral Science, the Lee Kum Sheung Center for Health and Happiness, and Viswanath Lab. She is responsible for the HappyB project (funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation – SNSF) and the HappyB2.0 project (funded by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development – NICHD), aiming to study the longitudinal link between smartphone use, social media, and positive well-being in adolescents. She is also responsible for the Happiness2.0 project (funded by the SNSF) that aims to communicate the HappyB project’s results to teens, parents, and stakeholders working with schools in Switzerland. She obtained her PhD at the Università della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano, Switzerland; and her doctoral work received the prize for best thesis in Social Sciences from the Italian Embassy in Bern. She studied Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in Milan, Italy, where she graduated with Laude and Menzione ad Honorem. Dr. Marciano is also part of the board of the IBSA Foundation for Scientific Research, which aims to disseminate scientific results through communication activities combining science and arts.
