Welcome

Our lab uses genomic and transcriptomic sequence data to study vector-borne infectious diseases (principally malaria). We employ a perspective informed by population genetics and molecular evolution to investigate interactions between microbes, vectors, and hosts. The field of infectious disease genomics has matured rapidly during the last 20 years as the cost of DNA sequencing has fallen by five orders of magnitude, and will continue to evolve due to rapidly moving technological frontier in DNA and RNA sequencing. Our work results in novel biological insights into diverse biological aspects of infectious microbes and their vectors, identifies determinants of therapeutic efficacy, and also generates new experimental laboratory techniques and bioinformatic analysis methods. Our mission is to pursue major scientific discoveries in malaria genomics and develop molecular and bioinformatic tools that serve public health.
