Lynn, a Massachusetts city, hit hard by COVID-19

Dr. Nancy Krieger, Professor of Social Epidemiology, has been recently quoted in “Lynn emerges as a new center of COVID-19 in Massachusetts” published by The Boston Globe.

In the article, Thomas McGee, Lynn Mayor, and Michele Desmarais, Lynn Public Health Director, credit large gatherings as the main causes of the higher than average rates of COVID-19 cases in comparison to other Massachusetts cities. Dr. Krieger and others, however, caution against attributing COVID-19 cases solely to personal conducts. The City of Lynn has a high number of communities of color and essential workers who are disproportionally affected by COVID-19.
