Loss of Cabin Pressure in an Aircraft: What Do You Do When the Pressure is on to Make the Right Medical Decision?

Presenter: Jacob Berry, MD, MPH, Second-year Resident, Occupational and Environmental Medicine Residency, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health

Learning Objectives: Participants will be able to 1) describe the risks associated with the loss of cabin pressure in modern aircraft; 2) explain the physiology associated with the loss of pressure; 3) explain the pathology associated with the loss of pressure; 4) discuss medical evaluation for workers exposed to sudden changes in pressure; and to 5) discuss appropriate steps in treatment for workers exposed to sudden pressure changes.
