The Impact of Air Pollution and Climate on Maternal Blood Pressure in the Project Viva Cohort
Presenter: Rebecca Hurwitz, BA, Candidate for the Master of Science degree in Biostatistics, Department of Biostatistics, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health
Learning Objectives: Participants will be able to 1) describe the known effects of environmental changes on short-term blood pressure; 2) discuss ongoing research on the relationship between environmental exposures and BP trajectories in Project Viva; 3) discuss the potential effects of neighborhood factors on heat/heat islands; and to 4) describe the biostatistical underpinnings of this research.
The Role of Sex Hormone Binding Globulin in the Relationship between Adiposity and Cancer in the UK Biobank
Presenter: LeeAnn Lucas, BSPH, Candidate for the Master of Science degree, Department of Epidemiology, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health
Learning Objectives: Participants will be able to 1) describe sex differences in cancer incidence; 2) describe the potential mechanisms driving these sex differences; 3) discuss the use of estimated visceral adipose tissue as a measure of adiposity in cohort studies; and 4) discuss the role of sex hormone binding globulin in the adiposity and cancer association.
