What is your background/experience prior to entering the program?

I worked for the Tennessee Department of Health as a statistician for three years before coming to the PHS program.


Why/how did you become interested in Occupational Health?

During my years in TDH, I worked for the Tennessee Occupational Health and Safety Surveillance Program, which is also funded by NIOSH. My daily jobs involved data collection and research on workers’ wellness.


What is your current involvement in Occupational Health?

I am currently working on the Shanghai Textile Worker Study, which mainly focuses on the effect of endotoxin on lung functions and other related health outcomes.


What are your future career plans/goals?

 I plan to be a health data scientist who can utilize different health data sources (surveillance, surveys, images, biomarkers, etc.) to conduct meaningful research.
