– Q & A –

What is background/experience prior to entering the program?

Previously, I was a community organizer in Pennsylvania working with communities affected by the natural gas drilling boom. I completed my MPH at BUSPH and my PhD at HSPH, focused on research translation, environmental health literacy, and community-engaged research.

Why/how did you become interested in Occupational Health?

I’m interested in early-life exposures to endocrine disruptors and the role of clinicians as trusted resources. I’m exploring the occupational context and role of training for clinicians in environmental health literacy, and the impact intervention can have in improving health outcomes.

What is your current involvement in Occupational Health?

I am working on an intervention study exploring the impact of environmental health guidance training on reproductive health providers’ environmental health literacy.

What are your future career plans/goals?

I plan to continue my pursuit of a career in academia, focused on environmental health literacy, research translation/dissemination, and community-engaged research.

What are your current or past Pilot Projects?

I explored the phthalate environmental reproductive health literacy of postpartum women, and am developing a scale for the measurement of phthalate environmental reproductive health literacy for this population.
