– Q & A –

What is your background/experience prior to entering the program?

Internal medicine physician who completed Epidemic Intelligence Service at the CDC in the Emergency Response and Recovery Branch.

Why/how did you become interested in Occupational Health?

I first worked in disaster response and found that a majority of frontline and emergency responders were feeling the brunt of violent and infectious incidents. It inspired me to want to get further training in occupational and environmental medicine to develop better emergency plans that incorporate protecting those who respond.

What is your current involvement in Occupational Health?

I am a Second-Year resident in the occupational and environmental residency providing clinical care at the CHA Occ Med Clinic. Additionally, I have been involved in projects involving qualitative data needs for California wildfire response, providing lay community recommendations for Maine lobstermen, and assisting in the development of emergency preparedness exercises.

What are your future career plans/goals?

Interested in incorporating occupational and environmental medicine into global health and disaster preparedness.
