– Q & A –


What is your background/experience PRIOR to entering the program?

Graduated medical school from Shifa College of Medicine, completed an MPH in Global Health from HSPH in 2016, then completed training in Internal Medicine at St John’s Riverside in Yonkers, NY.


Why/how did you become interested in Occupational Health?

My practicum project for my MPH in Global Health at HSPH in 2017 was focused on occupational healthcare for factory workers in Pakistan. After graduating, I had the opportunity to work with Eileen McNeely from SHINE at Harvard, which involved traveling to China and Cambodia to interview factory workers. I believe occupational medicine is an underutilized channel for providing primary healthcare to underprivileged populations.


What is your current involvement in Occupational Health?

Completing the Occupational and Environmental Medicine residency in June 2024.


What are your future career plans/goals?

 Aim to work improve primary healthcare for low-income workers in Pakistan and other countries by establishing an occupational healthcare system that can provide primary, secondary, as well as tertiary preventive services.


What are your current or past Pilot Projects?

Capstone: Clinical considerations in return to work for FAA Airmen following COVID infection Research: Extended follow-up study of Firefighter fitness after academy graduation.
