– Q & A –

What is your background/experience PRIOR to entering the program?

I received my SM in Environmental Health at HSPH in 2022. During this time, I primarily worked with the Healthy Buildings Team and the Office for Sustainability, where I focused my research on improving issues at the intersection between health, climate, and equity through innovative building solutions.

Why/how did you become interested in Occupational Health?

My passion for combating environmental injustices through the built environment began during my undergraduate studies at Haverford College, where I double majored in Chemistry and Health & Societies. My experiences during this time opened my eyes to the environmental exposures within the built environment that disproportionately affect marginalized communities and sparked my interest in translational research.

What is your current involvement in Occupational Health?

I am currently completing my PhD in PHS with a concentration in Environmental Health Exposures. More specifically, I am involved in several research efforts with the Healthy Buildings Program and the Office for Sustainability.

What are your future career plans/goals?

I hope to first work in the private sector to conduct interdisciplinary research focused on guiding the construction and renovation of healthier, more sustainable buildings for all populations. I would love to then bring these experiences back to the academic community as a professor.

What are your current or past Pilot Projects?

Past: Quantifying the US building industry’s PFAS footprint: a pilot method using coatings.
