Frank DePaolo, RPA, ABMDI-D

Mr. DePaolo served as the International Association of Coroners & Medical Examiners President and Chairman of the Board. He is a licensed medical practitioner with 30 years of experience as a NYC paramedic and licensed Physician Assistant. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Forensic Medicine with the NYU Grossman School of Medicine. He served thirteen years as a reservist with the U.S. Navy reaching the rank of Lt. Commander and achieved the “4V” designation as a Joint Mortuary Affairs Officer. During his tenure as a commissioned officer, he acquired expertise in medical countermeasures for chemical, biological and radiological weapons. Mr. DePaolo is a recognized subject matter expert on fatality management at the national and international levels and has served on many advisory boards.

Mr. DePaolo is the Deputy Commissioner of the Forensic Operations & Investigations Division with the New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner. Now in his 22nd year with the OCME, he began his career as a Medicolegal Death Investigator assigned to the WTC recovery operation. In 2003, he established the medical Examiner Special Operations Response Team (MESORT), a medical examiner-based, multi-disciplinary, hazmat certified forensic team, the first of its kind in the nation.
