Steve P. Rizzo, President and Co-Founder of Synergy Consultants, Inc. has had a diverse career in facility engineering. He attended Northeastern University College of Engineering where he received his Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering and is now a registered professional engineer as well as an ASHRAE Certified Commissioning Process Management Professional.

Steve has over thirty years of experience with firms including R.G. Vanderweil, J.C. Higgins Company, and Bard, Rao, and Athanas Consulting Engineers, where he was the department head of the building commissioning group for four years. Other positions that deepened his expertise were Chief Facilities Engineer for the Faneuil Hall Marketplace, Project Engineer with Shooshanian Engineering Associates, and Senior Facilities Engineer for the Massachusetts General Hospital and Children’s Hospitals in Boston, Massachusetts.

At Meredith & Grew, Inc. Steve dedicated his efforts to the Children’s Hospital Research Building project –a new 300,000 square foot, $130 million, state-of-the-art biomedical research facility and underground garage –as well as to the Clinical Expansion project –a new 245,000 square foot, 11 story, multi-use clinical expansion of the hospital’s main building. His role at Children’s Hospital included ensuring the interests of the Hospital were protected throughout the project, actively monitoring the schedule, construction progress, invoices and budgets, and routinely providing reports to the Hospital to keep them up to date.

Steve’s commissioning experience includes the Research Expansion project at the Children’s Hospital for which he published an article for an ASHRAE form on building commissioning. He was also the commissioning provider for the Harvard Institute of Medicine project, the Shapiro Clinical Center at Beth Israel Hospital, the Ambulatory Care Center at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and the Biomedical Research Building II at the University of Pennsylvania.

Steve has utilized his engineering background, technical expertise, and practical scientific application and methodologies to provide engineering project management with excellent results.

 

Steve is a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air-Conditioning Engineers, the American Society Healthcare Engineers, the New England Healthcare Engineers Society and a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers.
