Interdisciplinary Research Collaborative: Exploring the Health and Well-being of Maine’s Coastal Fishing Communities

Visiting Scholar in the Harvard ERC Outreach Program

Learning Objectives: Participants will be able to 1) discuss the interdisciplinary approach to collaborative research partnerships in the development of the Downeast Health Research Collaborative; 2) describe components of the study, “Understanding Injury, Pain, and Substance Use among Shellfish and Lobster Harvesters in Downeast Maine” (such as study design, results, and dissemination); 3) explain the benefits of student engagement in community-level research in rural health and well-being; and to 4) explain the barriers to student engagement in community-level research in rural health and well-being.
