Recently, Dr. Winnie Yip was interviewed by Xinhua, the official press agency of the People’s Republic of China. In this interview, Dr. Yip reflects on the achievements and remaining challenges of the Chinese health system in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. She notes that with the challenges of an aging population and an increase in patients with chronic diseases, now especially with the COVID-19 pandemic, the Chinese health system is currently experiencing a repositioning on the supply-side. Further reforms will move the focus from immediate treatment to a new focus on management and protection of people’s overall health.
