The Harvard Crimson highlighted Professor William Hsiao’s extensive work on the U.S. healthcare system in an article based on the HCHP webinar “Fixing the Underlying Problems of the Broken American Health System.” Hsiao, who has worked on healthcare reform efforts around the globe, referred to previous attempts at reforming the U.S. healthcare system–including the creation of Medicare and policies like the Affordable Care Act (ACA)–as “band-aid” solutions. He advocates for the introduction a single-payer system, which would simultaneously reduce the substantial financial waste generated by the current system and lower the number of people who are uninsured or underinsured.
