Conference on Medical Ethics and Professionalism

In collaboration with Professor Yali Cong from the Peking University, the Harvard China Health Partnership held a conference on Medical Ethics and Professionalism in Beijing from October 21-22, 2023. Over ninety healthcare experts, policymakers, and physicians from China’s leading research institutions and hospitals were in attendance to discuss eight topics regarding medical ethics and physician professionalism. As China continues to make strides in expanding coverage of its healthcare services nationwide, the importance of acknowledging and practicing medical ethics in patient care is increasingly vital for fostering patient-physician trust across all levels of facilities, from China’s leading public hospitals to local-level village health centers.

An edited volume consisting of eight cases on different aspects of professional ethics in the Chinese context is planned for publication by the Peking University Press in 2024. The project is made possible by the generous support of the Yeh Family Foundation of Hong Kong.
