April 11, 2024 – The startup Trans Health HQ—founded by Ivan Hsiao, a student at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health—has been named runner-up in the Social Enterprise Track of the 2024 Harvard Business School New Venture Competition.
Trans Health HQ aims to supply online resources to clinicians on how to provide quality gender-affirming care and safely advocate for transgender patients.
The New Venture Competition is an annual contest that supports students in the process of creating and evaluating new business and social impact ventures. At the competition’s March 28 finale, Hsiao, MPH ’24, pitched the startup and was awarded $25,000 in prize money.
Trans Health HQ has also been named one of five finalists in the Social Impact category of the 2024 Harvard President’s Innovation Challenge, which is an annual competition for Harvard students and select alumni pursuing ventures that push boundaries in their fields. At the May 1 awards ceremony, Hsiao will pitch Trans Health HQ to a global audience and compete for a share of $515,000 in funding.
