A Message from Dean Designate Michelle Williams

February 23, 2016

Dear Members of the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health Community:

I was thrilled and honored today to be named by President Faust to become the next Dean of the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health. This is a crucial moment for public health in the United States and around the world, and it is a privilege to assume this new role at such a pivotal time.

As both an alumna and faculty member, I have witnessed the transformative impact that this institution can have on the health of communities in need through its education and research discoveries. We have an imperative to both lead and to serve, and I am looking forward to working even more closely with the School’s faculty, students, staff, alumni, and supporters to build on what the School has achieved under Dean Julio Frenk and Acting Dean David Hunter. I want to thank them both for their leadership and look forward to this tremendous opportunity to advance our collective commitment to understanding and confronting public health challenges worldwide.

With best wishes,
Michelle A. Williams S.M. ’88, Sc.D. ’91
