On November 27, 2023, the Harvard Business Review Women at Work podcast hosted a roster of successful board members—including Harvard Chan faculty member Ellen Zane—to discuss how they attained board seats and advanced from there.
In the episode titled Ever Consider Joining a Board?, Ellen Zane talks about the importance of boards in providing organizational oversight, the nuances between different types of boards, as well as the specific challenges that women board members face. Ms. Zane also describes her journey from CEO of Tufts Medical Center to a director of several public, private, private equity, and non-profit boards.
To address these challenges and empower women for board directorships, Ellen Zane co-directs the Women on Boards: Getting On and Adding Value program at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Applications are now open for the next course, taking place April 18-19, 2024.
