Talk title:  Living in a Parallel Universe? Difference-in-differences for infectious disease policy evaluation

Presenter: Alyssa Bilinski, Peterson Family Assistant Professor of Health Policy at Brown University School of Public Health

Alyssa Bilinski is the Peterson Family Assistant Professor of Health Policy in the Brown University Departments of Health Services, Policy & Practice and Biostatistics. Her research lies at the intersection of policy evaluation and modeling, developing novel methods to assess real-world program impact and using resulting estimates to inform future projections. She will discuss pitfalls of popular “difference-in-differences” analyses with infectious disease outcomes and propose alternatives informed by transmission dynamic theory. Outside of work, she enjoys powerlifting and all-day baking projects.

About the series: Each spring, CCDD hosts an annual seminar series featuring talks from experts on the latest research in infectious disease epidemiology and modeling. The ID Epi Seminar Series aims to bring in speakers from various disciplines within infectious disease epidemiology, broadly defined to include the population biology of pathogens and other allied topics. Seminars will be held on Thursdays, unless otherwise noted, at 1pm ET between February 2nd and May 9th with the exception of March 14th (spring break).

Register for the seminar here. hsph.me/idepi24

Speakers will share their own perspectives; they do not speak for Harvard.
