CCDD ID Epi Seminar Series
May 12th, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Talk title: Novel diagnostics for serological surveillance and treatment of malaria
Presenter: Michael White, Chargé de Recherche Expert et Chef d’Unité at Institut Pasteur.
Michael White leads the Infectious Disease Epidemiology and Analytics (IDEA) G5 Unit in the Department of Global Health at Institut Pasteur. His team uses inter-disciplinary research tools spanning mathematical models, epidemiological cohort studies, and multiplex assays to investigate the epidemiology of infectious diseases. A key goal is the development of multiplex assays and statistical tools for integrated surveillance of multiple pathogens. Despite this multi-pathogen focus, he has a special fondness for malaria and neglected tropical diseases, and his favourite parasite is definitely Plasmodium vivax. Like many other researchers, he has developed an interest in coronaviruses, and has made some small contributions in the development of novel serological assays.
About the series: Each spring, the CCDD hosts a seminar series featuring experts presenting the latest research in infectious disease epidemiology and modeling. The ID Epi Seminar Series aims to bring in speakers from various disciplines within infectious disease epidemiology, broadly defined to include the population biology of pathogens and other allied topics. Seminars will be held on Thursdays at 1pm ET between February 10th and May 12th with the exception of March 17th. Recordings of presentations will be made publicly available unless indicated otherwise on the event page.
