Presenter: Kayoko Shioda, Assistant Professor of Global Health at the Boston University School of Public Health

Dr. Shioda is an infectious disease epidemiologist and veterinarian. Her research aims to advance human and animal health by identifying evidence-based interventions for the control of infectious diseases. Her work centers on two main areas: 1) vaccine epidemiology and 2) One Health with climate change. In the field of vaccine epidemiology, which she will focus on during her talk, Dr. Shioda aims to shape vaccine policies by obtaining robust estimates of the population-level impact of vaccines. She received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Tokyo, her MPH at Emory University, and her Ph.D. at Yale University.

About the series: Each spring, CCDD hosts an annual seminar series featuring talks from experts on the latest research in infectious disease epidemiology and modeling. The ID Epi Seminar Series aims to bring in speakers from various disciplines within infectious disease epidemiology, broadly defined to include the population biology of pathogens and other allied topics. Seminars will be held on Thursdays, unless otherwise noted, at 1pm ET between February 2nd and May 9th with the exception of March 14th (spring break).
