Department of Epidemiology Seminar Series

Speaker:

Deborah Lawlor, PhD
Professor of Epidemiology, UK Medical Research Council Integrative Epidemiology Unit, University of Bristol

Abstract:

The use of assisted reproductive technologies, defined as any intervention that includes the in vitro handling of both human oocytes and sperm, or embryos, for the purpose of reproduction, continues to increase steeply across the world. With this increase understanding potential adverse perinatal and later life health outcomes in offspring have been identified as research priorities by parents/families and health care providers. In this talk I will focus on research exploring potential effects on perinatal and future cardiometabolic health and emphasise some of the key research challenges and need for multidisciplinary collaboration and integration of evidence from different methods and data sources.
