Leveraging Design Thinking for Healthcare Innovation

March 4th, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

This session will be led by Dr. Kristian Olson MD, MPH, DTM&H, Director of the MGH Springboard Studio. Kris is a Pediatrician and Internist and serves as a member of the Core Educator Faculty at Mass General, where he is also Chief Innovation Officer for the Department of Medicine’s Residency Program and an Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School. He has worked in Thailand, Darfur, Indonesia, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Uganda, India, and the United States and is a serial innovator. In 2009, he was named to the Scientific American Top 10 Honor Roll as an individual who has demonstrated leadership in applying new technologies and biomedical discoveries for the benefit of humanity.

During the session, Dr. Olson will speak about how to use and leverage design thinking in the context of healthcare innovation. This will include examples of outputs in Low and Middle Income Countries (LMICs) as well as in the Mass General system. A substantial amount of the session will be open time to ask Dr. Olson questions about his work and the work of MGH Springboard Studio, so feel free to bring any and all questions you may have.

Whether you are new to the healthcare innovation and design thinking space, have never heard of it and are just curious, or have worked in this space for years, you are more than welcome to attend!
