Routine Uncertainty in the Service Sector

Dr. Schneider, PhD, the Malcom Wiener Professor of Social Policy, Professor of Sociology, Harvard Kennedy School, will discuss work scheduling practices in the service sector and describe the effects of exposure to precarious scheduling on worker health and wellbeing. His presentation will also cover the contributions of labor standards to work scheduling instability and research on automation and technology in this sector. This Monday ERC Seminar is jointly sponsored by the Harvard Chan Education and Research Center and the Harvard Chan Center for Work, Health and Wellbeing. Both centers are funded by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health.
