Andrea Martinez

Andrea joined Professor Mattei’s research team as a Research Assistant in March of 2016, focusing on the project for developing culturally-tailored dietary interventions and nutritional programs as a strategy to prevent diabetes and obesity among Latinos in Boston. Andrea is originally from Colombia, and hopes to dedicate her career to developing global nutrition intervention programs, with a focus on Africa and Latin America.

Andrea graduated from the SM2 program at the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health, in the Global Health and Population department. Prior to starting her graduate studies at Harvard, Andrea received her BA from the University of Pennsylvania in 2014, graduating with a major in Health and Societies and minors in Anthropology and African Studies. After graduating from UPenn, Andrea spent a year working for a small NGO in South Africa, helping to develop sustainable development projects, related to nutrition and health, education, and family empowerment.
