Ask the Expert: Are Female Doctors Better than Male Doctors?

Do female doctors have an edge over male doctors when it comes to treating their patients? That’s the question we considered during a Facebook Live Q&A on Thursday, January 19. Ashish Jha, K.T. Li Professor of Health Policy at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and director of the Harvard Global Health Institute, answered questions about a recent study that found elderly hospitalized patients treated by female physicians are less likely to die within 30 days of admission, or to be readmitted within 30 days of discharge, than those cared for by male physicians.
