Ensuring the integrity of global aid organizations

Instances of sexual abuse, kickback schemes, and sex trafficking at several well-known NGOs have come to light in recent years. To shine a light on such misconduct and enforce higher levels of accountability, three experts are proposing the creation of a web service like Yelp that features reviews of international aid organizations.

In a March 23, 2018 PLOS blog, Nir Eyal, associate professor of global health and population at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, and co-authors Abraar Karan, MPH ’17, and Lauren Taylor outlined the pros and cons of a website that would allow former volunteers, employees, community members, and recipients of charity services to rate organizations in the global health and international aid arena.
