New research hub to focus on Medicaid

A team of researchers from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Columbia University and Brigham & Women’s Hospital will spend the next two-and-a-half years examining critical issues related to Medicaid policy, the Affordable Care Act (ACA), and health care for low-income populations.

The new Policies for Action Research hub, based at Harvard Chan School, will examine topics such as Medicaid work requirements, mortality changes under the ACA, and public vs. private health coverage.

Funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the research hub will conduct rapid-turnaround analyses to inform policy-making in real time, according to a February 12, 2019 commentary on the Policies for Action blog co-authored by Benjamin Sommers, associate professor of health policy and economics at Harvard Chan School, and colleagues from Columbia University and Brigham & Women’s.
