David R. Williams, Florence Sprague Norman and Laura Smart Norman Professor of Public Health and chair of the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, and professor of African and African American studies and sociology at Harvard University, has been elected to the National Academy of Sciences. He is one of 100 new members announced by the NAS on April 30, 2019. Election recognizes “distinguished and continuing achievements in original research.”
Williams is an internationally recognized social scientist focused on social influences on health.
The NAS is a nonprofit organization of the country’s leading researchers that provides independent, science-based advice to the U.S. government on scientific and technological issues. Scientists are elected by their peers.
