Everything Keeps Changing: What COVID-19 Has Taught Us About Surveillance

Abstract:

I will discuss lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic about the need to define multiple public health purposes for surveillance, break down the surveillance-research barrier by expanding the targets of surveillance, establish effective systems to measure fundamental disease quantities continuously, and tailor these systems to their intended uses.  This talk will draw on experiences from the US, Israel, and other settings.
