A ‘Manhattan Project’ for the mind: Neuroscientist Husseini Manji on the future of mental health
February 8th, 2023 @ 1:00 pm - 1:45 pm
Husseini Manji has spent decades directing research into the biology, diagnosis, and treatment of mental illnesses at the National Institutes for Health and Johnson & Johnson. Despite important advances, many diseases remain intractable. Manji has called for a “Manhattan Project” approach to mental disorders and dementia that would bring together disparate fields, including neurobiology, technology, drug discovery, and societal interventions to change the way mental health is treated. Manji will sit down with Ipsit Vahia, director of the Technology and Aging Laboratory, McLean Hospital, to talk about the future of mental health care.
