$1.2 million will fund research ethics training for scientists and ethics review leaders from Rwanda

Congratulations to GHP Associate Professor Nir Eyal, Dr. Bernard Friedland of the Harvard School of Dental Medicine, and Dr. Aline Umubyeyi of the University of Rwanda School of Public Health, who have been awarded a 2016 International Research Ethics Education and Curriculum Development Award from the Fogarty International Center.

Over five years, $1.2 million will fund research ethics training for scientists and ethics review leaders from Rwanda. The project will train three cohorts of research ethics experts through an innovative, inter-professional collaboration between Harvard and Rwandan faculty. It will create a sustainable education program, strengthen the research ethics review and monitoring systems, and support the expected growth in interdisciplinary research in Rwanda from its collaborations through the Human Resources for Health project.
