CHOICES Poster to Be Presented at the 2022 NACCHO 360 Conference

The National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) 360 Annual Conference is both in-person and virtual this year. This year’s theme, Looking to the Future: Reshaping the Public Health System, will explore how the local public health workforce and its stakeholders can move forward in the midst of an ongoing crisis while implementing traditional and innovative approaches to restructure a system built to protect the health of communities nationwide. CHOICES team member Angie Cradock and Stephanie Weiss of NACCHO will present a poster on Tuesday, July 19 on our team’s work to incorporate health equity methods and results into our tools and resources. Poster Title: CHOICES in Modeling and Communicating the Equity Impacts of Prevention Strategies to Promote Healthy Weight

Description: This poster will describe how the CHOICES Project estimates the potential impacts of obesity prevention strategies on health equity, the results of focus groups convened to understand how best to convey data and information on these health equity impacts, and the tools and resources available to inform local health agency planning and prioritization. The presenters will introduce the modeling methods, data, and approaches that the CHOICES Project uses to estimate the impact of strategies on health-related behaviors, outcomes, and health equity. Presenters will describe examples of how local public health data can inform estimates of the population that is likely to benefit, the cost of implementing and the potential health benefits of a prevention strategy. The presenters will then describe the training, tools, and resources that the CHOICES Project has available to enable local health agencies to identify relevant local data to inform and communicate the potential health equity impacts of strategies to prevent obesity to guide decision-making.
