November 30, 2023 — A growing body of research suggests that taking the time to savor meals rather than gulping them down on the go can improve health and well-being and promote a healthier relationship to food. Lilian Cheung, director of mindfulness research and practice in the Department of Nutrition at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, was among the mindful eating experts quoted in a November 28 Saveur article on the topic.

Cheung, who co-authored the book “Savor: Mindful Eating, Mindful Life” with Thich Nhat Hanh, said in the article that mindful eating can be an antidote to “an epidemic of stress,” and that it is associated with decreased binge eating and a higher-quality diet.
